With a bunch of versatile veterans, the Dallas Mavericks figure they can play any style of game and with any configuration of their lineup. O'Neal returned to practice with the Cavaliers on Monday and is hopeful he can play in Cleveland's game at Detroit on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers went back to their tried-and-true formula -- LeBron, LeBron and more LeBron -- and it got the usual result. James scored 10 of his season-high 40 points in the final 7:07, and Cleveland beat the Pacers 105-95 on Friday night.

FILE - IN this Nov. 18, 2008, file photo, Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James(notes) throws chalk dust into the air before playing in an NBA basketball game against the New Jersey Nets in East Rutherford, N.J. James wants NBA players to give up their No. 23s to honor of Michael Jordan. The Cavaliers superstar, who has worn 23 since he was a high school sophomore, says players should pay tribute to Jordan for the Hall of Famer's long-lasting impact on the game.

LeBron James may persuade NBA players to give up their No. 23s, but a leaguewide retirement of Michael Jordan's number seems unlikely. James said on Thursday that he is considering switching his number next season and wants other players to do the same in honor of Jordan, the Hall of Famer who is often regarded as the league's best player ever.
